St. David’s Hall & The Gate Arts Centre
Currently the Quartet enjoys two local residencies, a long running residency
at The Gate Arts Centre and in 2010 as the first Ensemble in Residence
at the National Concert Hall of Wales, St. David’s Hall, Cardiff.
The residency at the National Concert Hall of Wales has provided
the opportunity to perform to a new audience regularly with mainstage
lunchtime performances. The quartet also works closely with Arts
Active on educational projects which involve local schools through
different art forms, often culminating in a performance with live
string quartet and theatre.
Their concert series at the Gate sees the Mavrons continue their passion
for performing mainstream repertoire alongside contemporary works.
This series also includes an evening recital of light classics and
popular favourites. To compliment their busy educational and outreach
programmes supported by Live
Music Now and the CAVATINA Chamber Music
Trust, the Quartet gives half-term family concerts. These are fun,
educational and inter-active experiences to be enjoyed by all the family.
Recitals
The
Mavrons are dedicated to performing chamber music of the highest calibre
throughout Wales and beyond. Since its formation in 2002, the Mavron
Quartet has enjoyed a busy schedule on the concert platform both nationally
and internationally. The quartet has received invitations to perform
at festivals in Europe, such as the Tiberius Chamber Music Festival,
Romania and the Klara Festival, Brussels.
The Mavrons are passionate about presenting traditional string quartet repertoire with contemporary works.
