CAVATINA takes young people to Chamber Music and Chamber Music to young people
The Mavron Quartet is committed to developing the audiences of the future.
Working for the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust ‘Chamber Music in Schools’ scheme
gives the Quartet opportunity to share their passion for chamber music and
inspire young people to attend chamber music concerts in public venues.
“All staff present were very impressed with both the quality of musicianship
on show and the way in which they interacted with the children” Richard Barrett, Albany Primary School
In order to encourage young people to develop the concert-going habit, the
CAVATINA Ticket Scheme offers young people between the ages of 8 and 22 FREE
tickets at more than 20 venues and festivals around the country and takes first
class professional ensembles into schools.
“I thought that they would just play for us but we played
games and they told us more about music too. The variety of instruments
used were fantastic and sounded great together!!”
Hannah Beare, age 9
Who Can CAVATINA Help?
1) State Schools
At Secondary level, Cavatina works with Heads of Music to ensure that a knowledge
of chamber music forms part of the total musical experience of their students.
Teachers are then encouraged to take students to public venue concerts.
At Primary level, the Trust aims to reach every child in a school, each performance
being tailored to fit the particular age group. Teachers and parents are encouraged
to take individuals or groups of children to suitable concerts.
2) Independent
Schools
The Trust can arrange visits by ensembles for all types of Independent Schools,
but the school itself would largely finance funding for these visits.
3) Universities and Conservatoires
At this level, the Trust would be happy to arrange visits to student music
societies charging a nominal sum for each member of the audience.
4) Concert
Venues, Music Societies, Promoters and Ensembles
Arrangements can be made with the Trust, which would subsidise tickets
for young people for individual or series of concerts.
